Like many other comments here, it's been driving me nuts for months. I used to open Downloads folder, go for a cup of coffee, drink it, go to university, finish a master, doctorate, and return to see if Windows 7 was done. on the System drive or the secondary drive or both? Hope this info can help someone find a solution to this issue (that doesn't involve disconnecting my networks drives and printers). Perhaps related to this, Windows Explorer has also been slow to pick up on changes when adding/deleting files in a directory, to the point where it's necessary to manually hit "Refresh"
